Over the last academic year we have expanded the ‘big boat’ section of the club, coming second in the BUSA match racing, which is one-on-one racing in j80s (a 25ft keelboat). We also attended the BUSA yachting nationals in the Solent, which is a huge event where 35 universities from around the country competed in a series of races in 37ft Sunfast yachts, where we came eighth overall. As a result of this we qualified to represent Wales in the Student Yachting World Cup which took place in La Rochelle, France, at the end of October, where there were student yachting teams from around the world competing in a series of races in 30ft Grand Surprise yachts.

All of this is available to all members, but selections are made largely on experience due to the lack of access to yachts available for trials.
